Energoatom meets with US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)

Acting President of Energoatom Petro Kotin met with representatives of the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).

The company's management stressed the importance of Ukrainian-American cooperation and the assistance provided to Ukraine by the United States. During the meeting, potential areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed, in particular, the possibility of introducing small modular reactors in Ukraine.

NNEGC «Energoatom» submitted its vision of the prospects of small modular reactors and the possibilities of their implementation in Ukraine in the context of the challenges existing in the energy sector of the country. The importance of adapting the national regulatory framework and establishing cooperation between the regulatory authorities of the countries where the certification of such reactors is underway was emphasized.

The American side was also informed about promising investment areas for possible future cooperation with US companies, namely the prospects of new nuclear power units construction in Ukraine using American reactor technologies, as well as hydrogen production on the basis of NPP capacities.

In turn, the United States Trade and Development Agency submitted its opportunities to provide funding and technical assistance as well as expressed its readiness to contribute in addressing issues related to the implementation of these and other projects in Ukraine.

The parties agreed to continue further communication and information exchange on the issues discussed during the meeting.
