Zaporizhzhia NPP continues to prepare for the OSART-2022 Mission

The process of preparation for the review of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by IAEA experts under the OSART program, which is scheduled for October 2022, began in advance and it is on schedule. The forthcoming visit of IAEA experts is aimed primarily at ensuring further safety level.

The IAEA Preparatory Process is divided into three sectors. In addition to production sector, focused on 12 areas, there are two additional sectors- financial and economic; and organizational and economic.

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant operates at 100% of installed capacity

For the first time in the company's 37-year history, Zaporizhzhia NPP carries a load equal to 100% of the installed capacity - 6040 MW.

“This is a remarkable, really milestone event. Now it is no exaggeration to say that Zaporizhzhia NPP produces a historic maximum of electricity for the needs of the population and industry of Ukraine,” commented on the event General Manager of Zaporizhzhia NPP Dmytro Verbytskyi.

Four units of Zaporizhzhia NPP are fully loaded with Westinghouse nuclear fuel

With the start-up of Unit 4 after outage, an important stage of the complete transition of four units to nuclear fuel from the alternative supplier - Westinghouse - was concluded at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

During the outage, the core of Unit №4 was fully loaded with Westinghouse fuel assemblies. Earlier this year, this happened during outages on Units 1 and 3. And it was done on Unit 5 as recently as in 2019.

The III Forum of the Youth Movement of the World Association of Nuclear Power Plant Operators (WANO) was held on November 11-12 via video conferencing on the LifeSize platform. Participants representing the WANO Youth Movement at Zaporizhzhia NPP gathered in the office of WANO representatives in various groups and took an active part in the event.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal paid a working visit to Zaporizhzhia NPP. The Head of Government got acquainted with the activities of Zaporizhzhia NPP, NNEGC Energoatom, which is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

The meeting was attended by Acting President of SE “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin, Acting General Manager of Zaporizhzhia NPP Dmytro Verbytskyi, Mayor of Zaporizhzhia region Oleksandr Starukh and Mayor of Energodar Dmytro Orlov.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine paid an official visit to Energodar - a satellite town of Zaporizhzhia NPP

On October 17, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko paid an official visit to the Energodar Industrial Complex. He visited Zaporozhie thermal and nuclear power plants. In meetings with managers-electric power industry specialists, the Minister stressed that the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the country is a priority.

The World Association of Nuclear Operators continues to work to improve safety

Representatives of Zaporizhzhia NPP in a video conference format took part in a meeting held by the leaders of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on the implementation of a new project “Focus on Excellence”. The meeting was attended by 78 managers and specialists.

WANO is implementing a new direction “Focus on Excellence”. A strategic plan has been developed. There is a special classifier that evaluates the activities of nuclear power plants. Pilot plants have already been identified in Armenia, Russia, the Czech Republic and Finland.

Zaporizhzhia NPP DSFS - 20 years of safe and reliable operation

On August 24, 2001, the first spent nuclear fuel container was installed at the ZNPP spent nuclear fuel storage facility. On that occasion, a press tour was held for journalists of local and regional media with the participation of Zaporizhzhia NPP specialists.
