WANO Technical Support Mission started at Zaporizhzhia NPP

WANO Technical Support Mission on “Application of risk-informed approaches (risk-monitoring) for maintenance and repair optimization during power unit operation at power” takes place on January 20-24, 2020 at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The WANO experts were introduced, mission purposes and objectives and challenging issues, which are to be solved, were announced at the entrance meeting.

“Dear colleagues, I want to greet you and to thank for the visit. This project is at the final stage at Zaporizhzhia NPP, we plan to use risk-informed approaches while safety systems maintenance during the upcoming scheduled outage of Unit 2”, Dmytro Sabadin, Zaporizhzhia NPP Chief Engineer, mentioned during his opening speech. “We have high expectations from realization of this project in regard to outage optimization and safety improvement of power units in operation. I want to thank one more time for the visit and for your help in the project realization as it is very important for our plant”.

“It is a topical subject not only for Zaporizhzhia NPP. I had to do my best to find specialists in this area. And due to WANO Atlanta and Paris Centers there are the best specialists, - Oleg Semenenko, WANO expert, mentioned. “A key objective of our mission is to give you positive world practice, the best information which you can apply to your work using other NPPs and organizations experience. I appeal to you to be opened and to ask for all issues of interest”.

WANO experts will provide presentations, exchange experiences with SE ZNPP specialists and work out the documents during the technical support mission. At the end of mission the experts will formulate the recommendations for further improvement in this area.

A final report will be officially presented for NPP during the month after technical support mission.
