A specialist of Zaporizhzhia NPP participated in the electricity market benchmarking at Kozloduy NPP

Dmytro Chaltsev, Deputy Head of Zaporizhzhia NPP Documentation Configuration Service, who is in charge of the issues of the new model of the electricity market, took part in the benchmarking at Kozloduy NPP.

The meeting, at which Bulgarian nuclear industry specialists presented their experience to Ukrainian colleagues, was organized by the WANO. The representatives of the Executive Directorate of SE “NNEGC “Energoatom”,“ Energoatom-Trading ”, SE SUNPP and RNPP NPP also participated in the event.

The experience of Kozloduy NPP in the electricity market is 15 years. At that, the model of the European energy market is very similar to the Ukrainian one. Their difference is that directly generating companies sell electricity in the market. Accordingly, the related work is carried out directly at the plant itself.

At Kozloduy NPP, the capacity is maintained as follows: two more megawatts are added to the declared electricity production schedule. The indicators are supported due to the meters installed on the generator. This information is available to the Main Control Room operations staff, and the senior engineer monitors it, checking if the plant is on schedule every 15 minutes.

“The issues of our Bulgarian colleagues are similar to those we may face or have already faced. Some of those issues have been fixed by them, but they are ready to use our achievements. This refers to the commercial dispatch departments that are being established at Ukrainian NPPs. Our Bulgarian colleagues do not have similar departments at the moment. This work is carried out by the specialists of production planning department, marketing department,” Dmytro Chaltsev said.

“As for the commercial dispatch department, which has started to be established at Zaporizhzhia NPP, its formation should be completed by the end of October. At that time, the department will be fully staffed with the certified specialists directly involved in the development of a predictive load schedule,” Dmytro Chaltsev said.
