A specialist of Zaporizhzhia NPP studied experience in organization of water-chemistry at Kozloduy NPP

Svetlana Yaseneva, Deputy Head on Operation of the Water Radiochemical Laboratory, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, visited Kozloduy NPP, Bulgaria to study the experience of organization of secondary circuit water chemistry and service water system. The delegation also included representatives of water-radiochemical laboratories of other Ukrainian NPPs.

“For the chemical specialists of our nuclear power plant, in the context of the extension of the lifetime of the power units, the information regarding the implementation of the system of complex chemical indicator evaluation is especially important. This indicator also includes the control of the operational management efficiency of the water chemistry of primary and secondary circuits and has an impact on the life of the main process equipment. Kozloduy NPP operates WWER-1000 units, so the exchange of experience on these issues is extremely valuable for our plant, ” Svetlana Yaseneva said.

After her visit to the Bulgarian NPP, in her report, Svitlana Yaseneva outlined detailed information on the organization of water chemistry management at Kozloduy NPP and the system of a complex chemical indicator. She also said that the Kozloduy NPP Management Self-Assessment System was comprised of 86 performance indicators, and managers at all levels can use its results to identify corrective actions and problem-solving in specific activity processes.

“Such a systematic self-assessment organization allows to identify in a timely manner all negative trends in the water chemistry management and condition of the equipment, as well as to take measures to cause certain problems. Regular discussion of the results of self-assessment at the technical council involves the resolution of such issues by all technical specialists of the plant and creates the working conditions for a single team to achieve positive results. The high status of the technical meeting provides control at the level of management and guarantees the implementation of the developed measures, ” Svetlana Yaseneva noted as the first item in her proposals and recommendations.
