Water-water energetic reactor (WWER / VVER) are installed at the power units of Zaporizhzhia NPP. Power units with a reactor of WWER type have two circuits that do not communicate with each other.

Each of Zaporizhzhia NPP power units is equipped with the following basic equipment:

Unified one-piece construction is located in separated main building of the NPP; it includes reactor compartment, turbine hall, deaerator stack and electrical equipment rooms.

NPP main buildings are oriented to the cooling pond that is source of NPP circulative water supply. Unit-shared pump stations, technical water supply pipe-lines and automobile roads are located in between the power unit main buildings.

Zaporizhzhia NPP connection to united electric power grid of Ukraine is performed via three electric-power transmission lines with voltage 750 kV and one electric-power transmission line with voltage 330 kV of alternating current.
