Unit 5 of Zaporizhzhia NPP has generated 200 billion kWh of electric power since the beginning of its operation.

NNEGC Energoatom received a license to extend the service life of Zaporizhzhia NPP Unit 5

Hryhoriy Plachkov, Head of SNRCU - Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine, presented the Acting President of NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin the license for operation of the nuclear facility of ZNPP Unit 5, which sets the date of the next periodic safety reassessment of the power unit - May 27, 2030.

The Head of SNRCU signed and sealed the document in the presence of the Utility Head Petro Kotin, the Director of the SNRCU Department for Nuclear Safety Borys Stolyarchuk and the Chief Engineer of Zaporizhzhia NPP Igor Murashov.

The service life of Zaporizhzhia NPP Unit 5 has been extended

On January 4, 2021 in the online conference mode, the meeting of the SNRCU Board took place. It was dedicated to the extension of ZNPP Unit 5 in the beyond the design period based on the results of periodic safety reassessment.

The report on the readiness of ZNPP Unit 5 of ZNPP to extend the service life was made by Acting General Manager of Zaporizhzhia NPP Yuriy Kulba. He reported on the implementation of a set of works to assess the technical condition of equipment, improve and re-assess safety, replacement of equipment that has exhausted its resource.

The IAEA inspection was conducted at Zaporizhzhia NPP

On December 9 and 10, 2020, at Zaporizhzhia NPP, inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducted a regular scheduled inspection. The specialists inspected Unit 5, which was in the scheduled interim overhaul.

The inspection was carried out by the Agency inspectors with involvement of the SNRCU inspector. The inspection was conducted within the framework of the international Agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA for the implementation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

At Zaporizhzhia NPP, an IAEA scheduled inspection is ongoing

From June 19 to June 24, 2019, the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will conduct a regular scheduled inspection of Unit 5, which is in the scheduled intermediate maintenance, as well as Dry Spent Fuel Storage Facility (DSFSF).

The IAEA inspectors will conduct the inspection of the shipment of two spent nuclear fuel casks from Unit 5 to the DSFSF of Zaporizhzhia NPP for storage.

Acceptance tests of primary and secondary circuit water-chemistry regime automated chemical control system for Unit 5 Zaporizhzhia NPP took place in Bratislava (Slovakia). The acceptance commission leader from Zaporizhzhia NPP was Oleh Chernyshov, head of computer subsystems laboratory, Instrumentation and Control Department.

On 25 May, 2016 at 00:01 ZNPP Power Unit 5 was disconnected from the power grid and transferred into scheduled mid-life outage for 65 days. The planned end of repair is 28 July, 2016.
