The implementation of Westinghouse fuel at Unit 5 remains a top priority for the Nuclear Safety Department (NSD) for 2020. This work is considered the most significant. The trial fuel operation is underway.

From June 19 to June 24, 2019, the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will conduct a regular scheduled inspection of Unit 5, which is in the scheduled intermediate maintenance, as well as Dry Spent Fuel Storage Facility (DSFSF).
The IAEA inspectors will conduct the inspection of the shipment of two spent nuclear fuel casks from Unit 5 to the DSFSF of Zaporizhzhia NPP for storage.
Acceptance tests of primary and secondary circuit water-chemistry regime automated chemical control system for Unit 5 Zaporizhzhia NPP took place in Bratislava (Slovakia). The acceptance commission leader from Zaporizhzhia NPP was Oleh Chernyshov, head of computer subsystems laboratory, Instrumentation and Control Department.

On 25 May, 2016 at 00:01 ZNPP Power Unit 5 was disconnected from the power grid and transferred into scheduled mid-life outage for 65 days. The planned end of repair is 28 July, 2016.
