A scheduled Board meeting of Ukrainian NPPs operating experience specialists took place. It is already the 20th event of a kind, where the representatives of all Ukrainian NPPs, Directorate of SE “NNEGC “Energoatom” and The State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety were engaged.
First of all activities of the Board meeting of operating experience specialists are directed on safety improvement, reliability and effective NPP operation. Such meetings serve as a platform for an active discussion and analysis of failures and fluctuations in power units operation at different NPPs.
“The nuclear branch specialists are able to form and implement further a single policy of SE “NNEGC “Energoatom” in this direction, developing and improving it while visiting such meetings”, - Albert Riabukha, Head of Operating Experience Department, SE ZNPP, explained.
One of the most interesting topics was the foundation of analytical groups to analyse the root causes of any negative incident, violation and denial. There is an idea that the investigations should be carried out by an independent expert team.
Further, the suggestions and recommendations from interested departments, to bring into life the innovation as soon as possible, are expected.
One more direction, which is currently important for the Company in general, is human and organization factor of impact on real actions. There is a great scope of work, an important constituent of which is a motivation of personnel to report openly about their mistakes, which can be possible only if a so called non-penalty system will be implemented.
An important topic, discussed by the board meeting members is an implementation of a branch data base of operating experience. As it is rather significant that NPP personnel would be able to use a suitable, available system that is to display any accidents at NPPs all over the world, for information to be easily found and used.
The issues concerning convenient and effective format of cooperation with international organizations – WANO and IAEA – also were on the agenda. A number of decisions, which will influence the improvement of cooperation with international nuclear community, were made.
