On November 24, 2020 at 02:10 the fourth 750 kV aerial power line Zaporizhzhia NPP - Kakhovska substation was put into operation.
This is a large-scale project that is important for increasing the reliability of Zaporizhzhia NPP in terms of power output. Now six power units of ZNPP, SE “NNEGC “Energoatom”, will operate without reduction of generation. This is approximately 700 MW per hour and 17 million kWh of electricity per day. These are significant figures for the economy of Ukraine and for the power-generation sector the country.
The new line is extended for 186 km from Zaporizhzhia NPP to Kakhovka, and it will improve the power supply for Kherson and Odessa regions.
The Kakhovska aerial power line will help redistribute the electricity produced by ZNPP, SE “NNEGC “Energoatom”, and it will create opportunities for maneuver without reducing the power output.
In the future, the 750 kV aerial power line Zaporizhzhia NPP - Kakhovka substation will be important in synchronizing the Ukrainian power grid with the European one.
“Our European colleagues are waiting for us in their power grid in the near future. The more stable the power grid as a whole, the more desirable it is as a partner to be connected to the unified grid of continental Europe," said Anatoliy Shevchenko, Deputy Chief Technologist of Zaporizhzhia NPP.
