The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) Peer Review is planned to be held at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in the second half of October 2020.
According to the methodology of conducting the mission, the Peer Review Team Leader and Coordinators had to arrive with the previous visit to the site of ZNPP six months ago.
But because of the quarantine measures implemented at the state level, the parties were forced to cancel the meeting and adopt an online communication format.
"Even in such limited circumstances, the primary objective of the previous expert visit has been achieved, even ahead of schedule. The management of Zaporizhzhia NPP and WANO representatives have agreed and signed a protocol containing key tasks and obligations of both parties to organize and conduct the Peer Review," said Albert Ryabukha, Deputy Head on Peer Review Preparation and Execution, Head of Zaporizhzhia NPP Operating Experience Department.
The preparation for the future WANO Mission is on fast-forward at the plant. As yearly as at the beginning of the current year, the responsible managers were appointed, working groups were created, and experienced experts of Zaporizhzhia NPP were involved in them. For each of the areas of the review the self-assessment is being performed according to the performance objectives and criteria.
The WANO Peer Review at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is scheduled for October 15 - 30, 2020, and it will be conducted for fifteen areas.
