SE Zaporizhzhia NPP specialist won the IAEA creativity competition

SE Zaporizhzhia NPP Instrumentation and Control Department Engineer Mr. Yevgen Kalinichenko won in IAEA International Competition on writing the best essay on nuclear physical protection. His creative work is called: «Emergence of technological threats and capabilities in area of nuclear physical protection in digital century».

Mr. Yevgen Kalinichenko described his work as follows: «My topic shows potential threats to nuclear physical protection from cyber attacks and unmanned aerial vehicles. In my essay I considered variants to counteract these threats, and considered use of artificial intelligence and UAV system technologies to improve nuclear facilities and nuclear material physical protection».

He also noticed, that the IAEA is interested in his work and it will be included into protocol of ICONS 2020 conference. The Conference reporting materials will be used for development of the IAEA Nuclear Safety Plan for 2022-2025.

The winners got their certificates in frames of the conference on nuclear physical protection: «Nuclear Physical Protection: efforts support and intensification» ICONS 2020, that was held in Vienna (Austria).

The purpose of the conference is to improve global regime of nuclear physical protection and international cooperation in the area. This Conference is held once per years and is an important event conducted by the IAEA in the nuclear physical protection area.
