WANO Technical Support Mission ended up at Zaporizhzhia NPP

WANO Technical Support Mission on “Application of risk-informed approaches (risk-monitoring) for maintenance and repair optimization during power unit operation at power” took place at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

This project is implemented at Unit 2 with international technical assistance of USA Government. The primary objective is to increase the utilization factor of installed capacity by means of security important systems repair, during power unit operation at power and to reduce the duration of outages without security diminution.

WANO Technical Support Mission became an important step on the way to project realization. WANO experts shared their experience in risk-monitoring, the general approaches were discussed and certain procedures were reviewed.

We wish you to be an advanced NPP in this area, WANO expert Oleg Semenenko noted. – The expert materials, and these are 28 procedures, are submitted and now you should process all this information and take the best from these procedures for usage”.

“I want to thank the experts, our partners, for an invaluable practical experience which we’ve got. There was a lot of interesting information, we’ve got an area of activity in procedures development and hereafter we’ll define the cooperation with Regulator to receive a practical result”, - Dmytro Sabadin, Zaporizhzhia NPP Chief Engineer thanked the experts.

At the final meeting the experts suggested several recommendations: to analyse the received procedures and to develop our own recommendations, based upon the analysis result, to use the registration electronic journal, to define the procedure and the periodicity of risk-monitor updating to support its model in the current status.
