IAEA assistance mission started at Zaporizhzhia NPP

A three-day IAEA assistance mission on “Leadership and Management for Safety” started at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

While welcoming the mission participants, Petro Kotin, General Manager of Zaporizhzhia NPP stated that the IAEA support mission is very important for the plant and shall be beneficial for every participant.

“By today’s event we are starting preparation for OSART mission which will take part at our plant in 2021. The mission preparation will last at Zaporizhzhia NPP for a year and Fuming Jiang, IAEA nuclear safety senior specialist, is present on site now to help us with this preparation. I want all the ZNPP specialists to use the experience of Fuming Jiang to the maximum and to be open for work with him”, Petro Kotin, General Manager of Zaporizhzhia NPP, mentioned.

It is the first visit of Fuming Jiang, IAEA nuclear safety senior specialist, to Ukraine. “I am very glad to visit Zaporizhzhia NPP. I want to share with you the experience and the results which were obtained at other nuclear power plants during identical support missions. I want to offer you various functions in the safety improvement areas based upon observations and discussions during the mission. And I hope that we will find common ground in all areas and issues”, Fuming Jiang stated.

During the mission the IAEA specialist will visit Unit 4 turbine hall and main control room, Units 2 and 6 controlled areas, internal emergency center and also he will observe work performance, pre-job briefings, daily birefings and conduct interviews with plant specialists.

A learning visit to Simulator Complex of Special Training for Maintenance Personnel   SE “NNEGC “Energoatom” of Zaporizhzhia NPP Training Center, with observation of WWER-1000 reactor facility primary equipment is foreseen in the mission programme.
