The specialists of Zaporizhzhia NPP were adopting the experience of the RiskWatcher users

The specialists of Zaporizhzhia NPP participated in the International RiskWatcher Users Conference held in London. The representatives of the countries - users of that software, including Japan, France, Slovakia, Hungary, USA, UK, - shared their experience, including Japan, France, Slovakia, Hungary, USA, UK.

At Zaporizhzhia NPP a project is being implemented to optimize the repair and maintenance of the systems for Unit 2. The purpose of the project is to perform maintenance of the equipment during operation of the power unit on power.

The RiskWatcher software is a tool to substantiate the safety of such maintenance activities. It allows continuous assessment and monitoring of changes in the quantitative safety criteria of the power unit.

In real time, this program evaluates the current configuration of the power unit, taking into account the state of the system equipment (in repair or maintenance), and determines the time during which the configuration can be applied.

“We were interested in a wide range of issues: further plans regarding software development, automated data entry, cyber security. In addition, it was very useful to see the results of the practical experience of applying RiskWatcher when operating the unit,” Yevgeniy Pranskevichus, Lead Engineer of Probabilistic Assessment Department of the ZNPP Safety Analysis Service, said.

Currently, Zaporizhzhia NPP specialists are actively working on setting up a model for installing Risk Watcher at Unit 2. The start of pilot operation is scheduled for 2020.
