The specialists of Zaporizhzhia NPP received training on software and technical complex at Siemens Training Center

At Zaporizhzhia NPP the stage of pilot operation of the radioactive waste treatment complex is in progress. After such an operation the complex will be put into industrial operation. In order to provide qualitative and reliable service for the radioactive waste treatment complex, the specialists of Zaporizhzhia NPP I&C Department received training on software and technical complex at Siemens Training Center.

“All installations for pressing, incineration and fragmentation of radioactive waste, as well as auxiliary equipment that ensures the efficiency of the entire building of the complex work on the basis of the modern software and technical complex of production of Siemens,” Olexander Barantsev says. “During the pilot operation of the complex, the personnel who provide services for it have questions that require new knowledge. That is why the management of Zaporizhzhia NPP had decided to send a group of specialists of I&C Department for training to an official representative office of Siemens, which would be able to provide a full range of required knowledge.”

One of the regional branches of Siemens in Ukraine is located in Lviv. In this branch, there is a training center with specialized classrooms where the training stands, mock-ups of industrial equipment, controllers are located. Therefore, it is possible to put theory into practice immediately. A group of five specialists of I&C Department has already completed three training courses at the Lviv branch on the topics that are necessary for service provision for specific equipment at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

“Without understanding how the state-of-the-art equipment is properly serviced, without understanding the processes which take place in the equipment, as well as how the algorithms are implemented, it is impossible to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of the modern software and technical complex and to repair it qualitatively. The acquired knowledge during the training will be shared with the colleagues who work with this equipment. I hope that over time we will be able to design a small training stand by ourselves for the practical skills development,” Olexander Barantsev said after the training.
