At Zaporizhzhia NPP, an IAEA scheduled inspection is ongoing

From June 19 to June 24, 2019, the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will conduct a regular scheduled inspection of Unit 5, which is in the scheduled intermediate maintenance, as well as Dry Spent Fuel Storage Facility (DSFSF).

The IAEA inspectors will conduct the inspection of the shipment of two spent nuclear fuel casks from Unit 5 to the DSFSF of Zaporizhzhia NPP for storage.

The inspection will be conducted within the framework of the International Agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

The IAEA is the only international inspector in the field of nuclear safeguards and control in the field of civilian nuclear programs. The purpose of the inspection is to prevent the transfer of nuclear materials, used in nuclear installations located in 70 countries, for military purposes.
